Mount Elbrus is a dormant volcano located in the Caucasus Mountains in southern Russia. The Mount Elbrus summit is the highest point in both Russia and Europe. Elbrus is part of the Seven Summits as the highest summit on the European continent. Being a dormant volcano with two volcanic domes, Elbrus is also part of the Volcanic Seven Summits.

The first recorded ascent of Mount Elbrus was made in 1874 by Florence Crauford Grove, Frederick Gardner, Horace Walker and the guides Peter Knubel and Ahiya Sottaiev.
